We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Please follow the below instructions to remove the older version and its traces and install the AVG Internet Security-Unlimited updated version. Here are the instructions:
1. Download and run the AVG remover tool from the link: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2. Select AVG protection and click on Continue.
3. Once the PC is restarted, run the AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe (NOTE: Click NO when the tool prompt for restart in Safe mode)
4. Run the tool and restart the system.
5. Download and install the AVG Internet Security-Unlimited by following the instructions from the link: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-Protection

We are sorry to know that the installation of AVG is stuck at 97%. This may be due to slow internet connection or slow PC. We would request to change to wired network, if you are using Wireless now. Also, please wait for few more minutes because installing AVG components may take some time to complete.

My computer says AVG is in passive mode and when I click to fix it it wants to uninstall AVG antivrus Free edition 2015. I can't work out from the program list which this is. I may have two versions on my computer. In the program list it shows me AVG and AVG protection as two seaprate programs as wellas AVG toolbar.
I am running an ASUS laptop with Windows 7.
