I recently had a major issue with uninstalling and reinstalling AVG Internet Security on my Windows 7 PC. AVG support staff were excellent and eventually the remote technician succeeded in installing Internet_Security_x64_1825. I managed to run one scan but when I tried to re-open AVG, I experienced the "UI Failed to load" error. I am not an IT expert but I am a person who makes things happen. I've found a solution and I hope it works for you:
1. Edit the PATH environment variable on your PC by adding the path of avgui.exe If you haven’t done this before, please google it.
2. Uninstall AVG Internet Security using Control Panel or RevoUninstaller
3. Run AVG Clear, AVG Remover and AVG RemoverFix, with all the required restarts. If a restart doesn’t happen by itself, do it manually. I understand that AVG Remover isn't supposed to work on more recent versions of AVG Internet Security but it doesn't appear to do any harm.
4. Restart your computer.
5. Install a slightly older version of AVG Internet Security (Internet_Security_x64_1820.exe worked for me) instead of the most recent versions such as Internet_Security_x64_1825.exe or Internet_Security_1824.exe
6. Restart your computer again.
7. Cross your fingers! It worked for me.

I am also experiencing the frequent stoppages of AVG Free (WinXP) where one of the Windows Services dies and has to be restarted. Is there a fix for this yet? - I see I am one among many who are experiencing this problem. I have uninstalled/ repaired and uninstalled/reinstalled via latest free installer but the problem persists.

Yes, I saw the earlier thread with all the gory details. I had already concluded that it was an issue with one of the Windows Services - for some reason it starts OK then after a while the service is no longer running and the browser cannot access web pages any more. Problem can be temporarilly corrected by restarting the dead service…rinse…repeat…etc. Wish I could run the debugger on their code and see where it's crashing–been there done that but not my code - LOL.
