After having a problem trying to install the latest beta version of AVG Internet Security (I've already posted on the beta forum about it, and have yet to receive a reply), I now have the same problem trying to install the free version. Here's a screenshot of the error message:
I've tried using both the removal tool and the BFE Fix utility and neither of them have worked. And just to make things even more fun, I can't turn on Windows Defender, either.

Hello Robert, I have viewed the screenshot attached and I certainly understand your concern. I would request you to follow the below mentioned instructions:
1) First step is to use AVG Remover tool and uninstall your AVG program completely. To download AVG Remover Tool please click on the following link:For 32-bit: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/support/avg_remover_stf_x86_2015_5501.exe For 64-bit: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/support/avg_remover_stf_x64_2015_5501.exe 2) Run the downloaded tool and follow the instructions displayed on your screen. 3) Your computer will be restarted automatically. After the restart, AVG Remover will finish the uninstallation. NOTE: Once the AVG Remover Tool has done with its process. Please go to the drive where you installed this tool and look for a folder named as "AVG Remover" and I request you to delete it manually.
Second step is to use AVG BFE Fix tool. To download AVG BFE Fix Tool please click on the following link: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_BFEfix.exe . 5) Run the downloaded file, click Accept to confirm the license agreement, and then click Continue. Your computer will be automatically restarted.
To download AVG free antivirus 2015 version please use this link: http://www.avg.com/download-file-dm-afh . If the issue persists please do let us know. Thank you.
