We are having a problem with Installation of AVG Internet Security in one of our Computers over the last 20 odd days.
- The Computer has Windows 10.
- The Updater stopped updating about 20 days ago. The internet connection to AVG Server gets disconnected showing ‘UNKNOWN ERROR’.
- Repeated Internal Scans showed ‘no viruses’.
- We tried ‘REPAIR’. FAILED - UNKNOWN ERROR.
- Yesterday we ‘UN-INSTALLED’ the program from the Computer assuming that complete new installation might resolve the problem. However, repeated attempts to download and install failed - The internet connection to AVG Server gets disconnected showing ‘UNKNOWN ERROR’.
- In reality, the internet connection is working fine.

I'd request you to run AVG Clear tool once again to remove the traces of failed installation, also uninstall if you are using any other anti virus product. Then try to install AVG using an offline installation file based on your OS (32 bit or 64 bit).
Visit this web page https://www.avg.com/en-us/download.prd-gsr-free to download the offline installation file. If the issue persist, please start your own post, so we can collect necessary logs to analyze the issue further.

I appreciate your efforts and patience so far. Please follow the below steps to change the DNS Settings to fix the issue.
-Please press Window key along with R key to open the Run command.
-Type ncpa.cpl on the Run command and enter to open the Network Connections.
-Now right-click on your active internet connection (this may be "Ethernet", "Wireless Network Connection" or "Local Area Connection" depending on how your computer is set up) and select Properties.
-In the Networking tab, click once on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to highlight it, and then click Properties.
-Select Use the following DNS server addresses and then enter the following:
Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4
-Click OK to finish.
After following the above steps, install AVG program and check the status.

I apologize for the inconvenience.
It could be possible that the latest updated (18.2) have failed to install completely or the connection with update server was interrupted. Please open AVG Internet Security > My AVG > My Subscription > Re-enter the license to activate the program. After activating, please update AVG manually and check the status.
