Many thanks for your response. I am trying to follow your instructions but I have encountered a problem and I cannot proceed with the instructions.
First I reboot my computer in safe mode. And then I have no access to your links.
Then I reboot again in Safe mode with networking.
I still cannot access the internet as the red light on my modem flashes and does not turn green. I have no connection.
I cannot therefore follow your links in safe mode.
I have rebooted again in normal mode in order to be able to send this email.
Please HELP!
Karen,
We appreciate your efforts in trying to fix the issue, we apologize for the difficulties. We can resolve this issue by uninstall and reinstall AVG in safe mode.
Please reboot your device http://avgclick.me/rebootintosafemode in safe mode, click on this link to run Reset Access tool: http://files-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_ResetAccess.exe and refer this article to uninstall http://avgclick.me/UninstallAVGAV your AVG program.
Kindly download your AVG remover and run it, then go to C: -> AVG Remover -> Bin ->pctremover.exe and avgfmwremover.exe (do not restart your device if prompted), then run avgremover.exe (it will automatically reboot your device).
I have been trying to update AVG antivirus free edition and am having problems. Firstly I got the following error message "Unexpected Error. Sorry, we've run into a problem during installation. Error code: 0xc00704ec".
I then downloaded the AVG removal tool and removed all components of AVG (successfully, I think).
I then tried to install AVG again directly from your website. It appears to have installed.
However, I am now getting another message saying "Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy.
I have followed the instructions on your website and have carried out all the steps and am unable to use AVG now at all.
Please advise how I can rectify this problem. Thank you.
Operating system: Windows XP

We are sorry, in this case, try to follow the above suggested steps in normal mode itself. Let us know if you face any difficulties. Thank you!
Then please remove the AVG folders manually as suggested below. Go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type the following comments to delete the folders.
1. Type “Temp” and press enter, remove all the files.
2. “%temp%” and remove all the files.
3. %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders.
4. %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files.
Please go to c: drive-> program files and delete the AVG files. Reboot your device in normal mode and proceed with the installation as suggested here: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download .
Please feel free to get back to us for any issues with AVG. Thank you!
