Unable to uninstall AVG Free

To anyone else having this issue, the Avg removal tool is unnecessary. Avg runs multiple processes, viewable through your task manager. Just find the ones holding back the deletion and shut them down. This should allow you to remove them.

Charles,
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We appreciate all your efforts in trying to fix the issue. In this case, we request you to use our AVG clear and remover tool to remove it with traces.

Please download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.

1.Open tool
2.User Account control - click "Yes"
3.Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compatibility)
4.Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
5.Click "Uninstall"
6.Click "Restart computer"

After restart, run AVG Remover http://avgclick.me/UninstallAVGAV and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework). Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.

Hi, I previously had AVG Free but when it updated a little over a month ago, it told me to try out their new premium product for a free trial. So I did, but after that trial ended, AVG declared that I no longer had ANY antivirus of any kind.

This was of course a lie, I still had AVG Free but I did not know that. I went looking for new antivirus, found some, and got it running just fine. Fast forward to yesterday, my computer is suddenly extremely slow and windows explorer is freezing and crashing a bunch. After numerous restarts and removal of things that might be the issue, one of the things listed that might be bogging down my computer is "if you have multiple antivirus running, it'll slow down your computer" so I go looking for AVG, which I had "uninstalled" but find that AVG Free is STILL on my computer and STILL active.

I liked AVG Free, it did it's job fine, but at this point, I would rather wipe my computer and reinstall windows than have anything to do with AVG on my computer.

I have tried uninstalling it, manually deleting the files, manually deleting the files as administrator, reinstalling it and then deleting it, but still it remains.

My most recent error code is this one I got when trying to uninstall it after reinstalling it: 0xE001F95A

Please help.

OK Charles, No probs… Pleased to see that you appear to be now sorted. Thanks for returning to the Community & posting.

Coincidentally enough, not even 10 minutes after I submitted this comment, I was able to uninstall AVG via the regular control panel means. Maybe the final step in uninstalling is submitting a ticket on your support board? Maybe all the steps I had done before had loosened it from my system and allowed windows to deal the final blow? I don't know and I don't care, I'm just glad to be free of this madness.
