We're sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Please follow the below steps to remove any/all traces of AVG Antivirus from your Mac:

  1. Open Finder.
  2. In menu bar, select 'GO > GO TO FOLDER'.
  3. Type: /Library/Application Support/
  4. Locate and delete AVGAntivirus folder manually
  5. Restart your Mac

After performing the above steps, please try reinstalling the latest version of AVG Antivirus.

Can you please tell me how to uninstall AVG from MAC when I have moved the previous application to the bin and deleted it permanently. I see now I should have used the Uninstall feature under Go tab. The previous version is now not showing in applications - but the new version will still not install because it says there is a previous still there.
