Unusually long scan times & some applications not working

How many of you out there experience the following:
1. Exceptional number of hours for a scheduled scan to finish?
2. Scan gets to 27% then takes hours to move on?
3. When trying to open email (ms-outlook) during scan it just doesn't happen?
4. Have to stop the scan and restart your computer to clear software lockout?
5. AVG scan seems to take up all the resources of computer?

My question to AVG is if the scheduled scan is only looking for recent file updates why does this scan takes so long?

Does anyone suffer from all of the above?

We are glad to clarify your request. It's look like you have set scan type as deep scan. That is the reason why its taking long time to complete it.

If you want to scan the PC with less time, you can run Smart scan using AVG program. A comprehensive Smart scan that checks your PC for viruses, malware, bad browser add-ons, and other issues.

Deep Scan: A predefined, in-depth scan of your system that checks your storage drives and memory for malware (including rootkits).

As you are unable to open and access outlook during scan process, you can try to repair AVG Internet Security 
once and restart the PC.

Then, change the scan type to Smart scan in scheduled scan settings and check the status. Keep us updated.
