AVG internet security requires an update, but won't work. I've tried to remove AVG, won't work. I've tried to re-install AVG, won't work. ARG!!! What will work? Please help

And it doesn't work. I've tried it a couple of times now. It doesn't get rid of the problem!

When updating, it says it cannot update because of a running installation and to finish that first.
But I'm not installing anything.
When I try to re-install AVG, I get the following error code and description
0xC0070652 Event exec_finished
That message also appears when I try to de-install AVG
