Update some time other than log in

Hello Slick,

We are sorry to know that your PC is working slow when you startup. We do have option to set update as Manual. But, setting up manual update does not resolve the slow down restart. You need to remove the unwanted program from the startup list in task manager.

Also if you click on Virus defintion option you can see drop down option setup manual update. You can refer the below article to setup Manual update :

Updating AVG Anti-virus program (http://https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Update-AVG-Antivirus)

Please try the above steps and let us know if its help you.

Is there a way to get AVG to ASK me if it's ok to check for definitions instead of doing it as soon as I log in?
I have it installed on my Win7 computer and it really slows down the computer while it does the check. I hate autocratic updates for this reason.
This is especially bad if I haven't used the old win7 computer in a while (it is my old computer). Worse, it doesn't do the update check when the computer is booted, but waits for a user to log in. When I log in, I want to use the computer, not wait for AVG.

I know AVG is the culprit for my computer taking over 5 minutes to log in and be ready to work because I don't have this problem if I uninstall it, but we all know how bad an idea it is not to have antivirus installed (even if I didn't use the internet on that computer while doing my test).

I might not bitch so much if it would do it at startup when nobody was using the computer, but it has to wait for a  login for some asinine reason, since we all know everybody wants to sit and wait for updates when they log in rather than use the computer after typing their password.
