Hi John,

Let's have a look at it together. We recommend you to have any one security program to avoid conflicts.

You can remove the traces of AVG using its remover tool and clear tool. Refer the below article:
http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product  to download these tools. Run remover tool first and then proceed with clear tool.

After restart, go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type the following comments to delete the folders manually. 

1. Type  “Temp” and press enter, remove all the files. 
2.  “%temp%” and remove all the files. 
3.  %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders. 
4.  %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files. 
5. Type C: and press enter, delete AVG remover folder. 

Please go to c: drive-> program files and delete the AVG files.

Hi,

I downloaded AVG Protection in 2016. Computer has not been properly taken care of since and I have noticed a re-occurring error from AVG.

-Product will not update. Says it is common error and I cannot find any detailed explanation.
-Product will not uninstall. Says Windows cannot find avgsetupx.exe
-Product keeps scanning on its own and says my other antivirus has a virus. I have since Uninstalled said antivirus and has re-installed it directly from the site. AVG still says the new antivirus has virus and recommends to remove them all.

Please let me know how I can uninstall AVG protection.

Sure, John. 

Pleaser run AVG  Remover http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework).

Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe . This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG and its traces.

1.Open tool
2.User Account control - click "Yes"
3.Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compatibility)
4.Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
5.Click "Uninstall"
6.Click "Restart Now".
