Updating Virus Defs

Jim, Which AVG product are you actually referring to & what is the version no i.e. 201* [eg 2016].

I open my AVG APP and it shows that I need to update the virus definitions. I click on update and it takes me to another page and opens a window that says, " Initializing please wait". It ha a progress bar in the window as well. The problem is that it never finishes initializing and the progress bar never moves off zero. So I don't know if the virus defs ever get updated or not.
