Virginmedia emails

Hello Gus,

We appreciate your time and efforts in fixing this issue.
Glad to know that your emails started working properly after changing the SMTP settings of your email carrier.
Regarding your query, please let us know the version of the AVG Antivirus you're using. Also, we request you to repair your AVG Antivirus and check if the issue still persists.
Thank you for understanding. Keep us updated.

For some time, my Virgin media emails have been coming in fine, but any that I tried to send failed with such messages as "the server timed out" or server rejected the password. To make it worse, this was happening on all four of my PCs.
It took about two weeks searching and scouring the internet discussions before someone suggested that AVG might be interfering with transmission. As soon as I disabled the email shield, I was able to send emails without having to use my mobile phone !
On looking further, I found that if I disabled scanning of SMTP (outgoing mails), it had the same effect, i.e. emails could still be sent out.
The systems are running Windows 10 Professional and processors include both Intel and AMD.

Is this likely to be fixed?

Thank you for updating the status, Gus.

Gld to know that you're able to send and receive emails now.
We request you to keep monitoring the situation and if the issue recurs, please write back to us. We'll check and help you accordingly.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
When I repaired AVG, it also self-updated itself to version 20.6.3135 (build 20.6.5495.588).
I reinstated checing of outgoing emails, and it now seems to be working normally.
Thanks for your advice on corrective action.
