Hello Peter,
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with AVG Antivirus Pro, virus definitions updates. In this case, I request you to reset AVG Antivirus app once and check for the situation. This will reset the configuration of the app to defaults. To do so, navigate to the location mentioned below. Device Menu -> Settings -> Apps/Application Management -> AVG Antivirus app-> Tap on clear cache and clear data -> Force stop the app . Restart the device once and check if your AVG Antivirus program is working fine.
