Virus Definitions

Yes, AVG Version is 18.6.3066.  Virus definitions are 180907-6.  I have downloaded and re-installed AVG Free.  AVG states my computer and web/email are protected.  I also ran a scan yesterday and it found no problems.  I suppose everything is okay - just a quirk?

Hello Bobby,

We will check this for you. Do you have latest version of 18.6? Open AVG Antivirus Free -> About -> check its version.

Have you tried to reinstall your AVG Antivirus free and checked if it helps?

I use the AVG Free on my older computer, which use Windows Vista.  I don't do a whole lot of computing, just e-mail. a few searches and buy a few things here and there.  Lately my AVG says my virus definitions are out of date.  So I run the update and system says all updated and I have latest version, but still get that message.  I have looked up virus definition problems and have seen instructions about Google Play androids, but I am pretty sure that doesn't apply to me.

Thank you for the information Bobby,
You might have installed AVG Secure Browser on your computer, go to control panel > program and features and look for AVG Secure VPN, if it's installed on your computer. You can use this program for internet surfing.
Your computer will be protected from all types of malware/ransomware, if your AVG Antivirus Free program is working fine.
Regards,
Alok.

The last time I downloaded AVG I didn't uninstall the old one.  This time I completely uninstalled it, downloaded a new one and no problem with out of date virus definitions!  I was a little concerned when I saw 'Browser Secure Setup' running for a very long time, but once it ended all is back to normal.  So…not sure what happened, since I've used AVG for a long time.  Maybe my computer is too old?

  Thanks for all your help.

Alright, the AVG program and the virus definitions are up to date.

Is it still showing out of date?

If so, we suggest to repair the AVG Antivirus Free program by referring to this article and check if AVG still shows out of date.
