I am not on that machine currently, but I did write the vendor last night when this occurred and this was his reply:
Based on the definition noted, and searches on the Internet, you must have AVG installed on the system.
I am not on the computer which had this problem, but did write the vendor last night and had this reply this am:
Have had the file checked for the download sites noted below, and they do not contain and viruses in the install files from the servers.
The definition from what I can find would reference the program noted as Malware, since it is able to record activity on the computer and record that in a log folder on the system. A keyboard monitor could be consider a Malware program since it records user activity on a system being installed on and logs keystrokes - so you would need to set AVG to allow the program to be able to install and log keyboard activity.
Given that this is a Keystroke Monitoring program so I can monitor my son's activity on the internet to include capture of user id and passwords due to his internet addiction, how do I "set AVG" to allow the program to install?

I just purchased a 'security program that was to perform keystroke monitoring on my son's computer. I downloaded the executable and received an AVG virus detection message where virus was put into quarantine. I am going back to vendor on this, but what is this virus – couldnt find any specifics and what does it do. Also, what was strange was when I clicked on the link for 'more info' in the AVG report the time circle swirled but nothing came up, it just went back to report screen? Advice…input?

Hello Laurie. Could you please open that scan result ( Options->History->Scan reports ) and provide us with the screenshot of the detection? To create a screenshot http://avgclick.me/createascreenshot
