Virus giving false positive

I use a bespoke software which loads onto my Windows workstation with a Java Executable Jar File
The file sits on my desktop for loading as and when I want to use it
I have recently suffered many times this programme crashing and AVG has Quarantined the jar file stating it was infected with IDP.ALEXA.53.
Checking has proven this to be a false positive but I do not know how to stop it, I am a user not a techie and am unsure how to fix
Any help suggestion would be appreciated

Hello John.
We regret any inconvenience caused.
If I may ask, how did you confirm that it was a false detection by AVG? If you are 100% sure that the file is safe, you can add it to AVG exceptions list to exclude it from being scanned by AVG.
