@A. Y. Thanks so much, a fantastic solution! It worked perfectly.
@ AVG: This is a full month since the problem came to light, how can you possibly expect your customers to patiently wait and provide error reports etc etc when we can't use our PC's properly??? The whole of the bottom corner of the screen is blocked by this stupid window! I have no idea what AVG Self Protection is about, but disabling it meant that I could work again. This should have been fixed with a day, not a month!!!
Hello A. Y,
Thank you for sharing your idea here.
It is not recommended to disable "AVG Self Protection" and other AVG processes running for your computers protection. We understand that you have mentioned to re-enable self protection again.
It seems that few customers keep getting the popup even after following some troubleshooting step.
We will definitely release the fix in upcoming update.
We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.
Hi, I have the same issue that came up today. I expect I'll have to send you the log files when you contact me. But for now, the only fix for this issue is to restart.
Additional note: The popup does not like multiple screens. It popups off screen a bit so you can only read half of the popup (however, by randomly spam clicking popup, it aligned itself into main screen).
I would love, just as everyone else here, to have this fixed ASAP.
I'm getting this pop up, too. The fact that I can't find a setting to prevent AVG from scanning random files to "protect me," holding up my work with files I know are safe, and then it makes a pop up like this that can't even be ended with task manager…is so disgusting and shady that I'm seriously considering looking for alternatives to AVG. The program has progressively done more and more "calculated misery" things to pressure and annoy free users (apparently paid users, too), so I appreciate having something this ridiculous to tip it over the edge into being a hindrance rather than a help. What kind of antivirus software won't let you choose whether it randomly pauses you to scan files, and then creates pop ups that cannot be ended without restarting your computer? I was in the middle of work, too, and now I have to close all my files and folders and workspace and restart, all because AVG thinks it's the boss of MY computer.

virus lab sends me a pop up report that simply will not close down

I have the same problem too. The notification will not go away
I am suffering the exact same thing… AVG Antivirus Free version 17.6.3029 on Windows 10. I run an exe and it says it will send it off for analysis. Later that session, or even the next day if I shut down sooner, the message pops up to tell me all is well… except all is far from well, because the message won't go away without my rebooting.
I have a similar issue - this message will not close! It is annoying!!
Hi, Robert. I'm having the same exact issue. It's annoying when it scans something on its own and the only way to get rid of the "No viruses found!" Popup is to restart your computer, isn't it? this is an image of the popup. the "Close" button flat out doesn't work.

Hello Edward,
I understand your concern but we would like to inform you that the fix for this particular issue will be released at the earliest as possible.
Your patience is much appreciated.
Thank you for providing the log files, Magnar.
I have found the solution to this issue. AVG is aware of the issue and are aware of the fix. I believe that they design the product to do this. AVG has been having this problem for years…unfortunately, they keep changing their interface…so it becomes difficult to solve the problem once they do that. In order to shut down this pop-up. Go to AVG > Menu > Troubleshooting. Then uncheck "Enable AVG Self
Protection Module." Then go to Windows Task Manager and find in Processes "AVGGUI" and "ACGGUIX" and End those processes. The screen will go away. If that doesn't work…go to Windows Task Manager and go to Services and disable "avgsvc," avgbIDSAgent," and "AVG Antivirus". Somewhere along the way of ending those processes…the popup will go away so that you can operate your computer effectively. AVG had this issue in the last version - the fix was the same…and it was published. Disable Self Protection - then kill the program in Task Mgr. But they move the Self-Protection button…which is what causes the program to not shut down when we need to restart it without restarting our entire computer. After the popup goes away…don't forget to re-enable self-protection.
