Hi Toni.
We're here to help.
Did you receive a threat detection pop up from AVG or is the threat detected when you ran a virus scan?
Please share a screenshot of the threat removal window to assist you further.
AVG informed me I had a virus called IDP.HEUR.17 and asked if I wanted to quarantine it. I said yes. It's taking a long time and looks like it's running. Is it? Is it normal to take a long time to quarantine a virus?
Thank you for replying, Toni.
As you aren't receiving the threat popups, AVG Internet Security should have removed the file.
You don't have to access the file location now. Keep monitoring the computer and let us know if you receive the popup again.
I did a screen capture but it says the size is too large?
Finally last night when I went to bed I simply logged out of my computer and turned it off. I rebooted it this morning and it seems to be ok. I checked the AVG status of safety and it appears there is no issue. I wasn't exactly sure how to "go to the file location on my hard disk" I looked at the programs running from the control menu and did not see anything unusual. If you can tell me how to go to the file location on my hard disk, I can do that, but I'm somewhat of a novice. Thanks. Or, I can wait and see if the pop up comes back since rebooting.
Thank you, Toni.
We have received the screenshot and it is visible.
Since when did this pop up start appearing? Is it random or does it appear when you a particular software?
I'd request you to go to the file location on your hard disk and check if it is present or not.
Some infections require a PC restart to remove them. Please reboot your PC once to verify the issue.
