Hello Jerry,

The scan that you perform from the interface of AVG Antivirus free/AVG Internet Security is known as quick scan.
It would just take 2-3 minutes to complete and it will just perform the basic scan for browser add-ons, viruses & malwares. sensitive documents and performance issues (if AVG TuneUp is not installed).
There is no sleep mode available within AVG Antivirus free/AVG Internet Security.
Are you referring to silent mode or is the AVG antivirus free is temporarily disabled?
May I ask how did you confirm that AVG Antivirus free is in sleep mode?

1. The time to complete a manual scan is much shorter than for a schedule scan.  Do both scans perform the same functions?  I use the Free version.
2. How do I set AVG to wake from the Sleep mode to scan?

Hello –
Thanks for the return.
I was not referring to the silent mode and AVG was not temporarily disabled.  I did not confirm that AVG Free was in the sleep mode.
What I did was put my PC in Sleep mode and check to see if AVG did a scheduled virus scan.  From what I observed, it did not.  When I brought my PC out of the Sleep mode, AVG automatically started to scan.

You are most welcome, Jerry.
This is the expected behavior with AVG scan as when the computer is in sleep mode power is cut to any unneeded systems, while RAM receives just enough power to enable it to maintain data.
Hence, AVG service will not be able to perform its scheduled scan task.
Once the computer wakes from sleep mode, the scheduled scan will start automatically.
