Hi ,
This is my first post. I have been happily using AVG free for quite a while now.
Today when I first tried to open my AVG page , I had a message, which said something about sorry for not connecting or something like that. Sorry, I wasn't really paying attention. I did have internet connection. I did then get my AVG home page saying virus definitions out of date, update now.
the update page says
Last encountered error setup is already running
download time 1s
downloaded files 0(0.00KB)
UPDATING step 1/3
Initialising please wait
the progress indicator is black.
it has been like this for several hours and I have restarted my pc and I do have internet.
If I go back to the home page I am back to virus definitions out of date and going round in circles.
Hope someone can help, Regards, Mark in Wales.

Please change DNS server address to public DNS in Windows and check if that fix the issue.
(1) Right click on network icon in the taskbar and click "Open Network and Sharing Center"
(2) Click "Change adapter settings"
(3) Select the active/ connected network adapter and right click and select "Properties"
(4) Select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click properties and then select "Use the following DNS server address". (By default "obtain DNS server address automatically" is selected). When you select "Use the following DNS server address", you can use the DNS address you want. Popular public DNS addresses are google DNS (8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4),
After changing the DNS settings, click ok in the TCP/IP properties wizard.
Once you change this settings, restart your device and check if you are able to update AVG.
Mark, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
