VNC connection not working anymore

Hello Paul,

Let us check if you configured the Firewall settings as recommended.
Open AVG - Menu - Settings - Full protection - Enhanced Firewall - Enable Internet connection sharing.
Additionally, click on System rules that is available in the same page & enable the 1st two options : Windows file & printer sharing, remote desktop connections. Do check if the network profile is set to private.
Please try the above steps & let us know the outcome.
Thank you.

I have been using AVG Internet Security for quite a while now and have never had problems using my laptop to VNC into my desktop. I just replaced my old router with a new Nethawk Wifi6 router. All the connected devices are working fine. The notable difference with this router is that the address space fir LAN DHCP addresses is 192.168.1.1/24 (the old router used 192.168.0.1/24)

When I try to connect from my laptop to my desktop, the connection fails. If I run Wireshark on the desktop, I see the UDP and TCP packets coming in from the laptop, but never see the VNC server reply to it.

I tried putting in port forwarding on the router - same problem. Then I tried disabling the AVG Enhanced Firewall, and then the connection worked! So the issue is with AVG - but where? I put in rules to allow access to port 5900 for all inbound traffic, but that still doesn't resolve the issue. Any suggestions?

And why wasn't this an issue with my prior router? I probably should check to see if I put in different rule son it (I can't remember now!)

Hello Paul,

We are sorry to know that the issue is still not resolved.
We would request you to refer this article: https://bit.ly/3jSKkxF and do the necessary changes as described in the article.
Thank you and please keep us informed.

All the settings are already set as you requested with the same results of VNC not connecting. However, I do not know where to set the network profile? The bottom of hte Enhanced Firewall settintgs screen does say "List of Network Profiles" and then "No items in this list" below that? Should there be a network profile here?
