I would like to inform that if you are using only Mac computers then you need not have to purchase a paid subscription.
For Mac computers, we do not have a paid protection software.

Have the same issues as others it seems - purchased AVG ultimate today - tried to install this on 3 macs unsuccessfully - never opens or runs or confirms that there is any protection.
Have followed the advice on the suport sites re
1.reinstalling (have used the AVG uninstaller and other uninstallers) reinstalling (as you can guess from the previous comment) several times, restarting numerous times - nothing.
2. running commands in terminal - first command already running, second states files not found so no luck there either
Have spent a frustrating afternoon gettig nowehere
Then ended up with an even more frustrating time with a customer support person telling me that first they dont support apple products and then that I should just use the free version. When I responded that this is the retail [not free] version and that there is clearly an apple symbol on the box - he just kept responding to use the free version. When I asked why they then sell a version for macs if that's the best advice he could give me his answer was that its for PC {that's why there is an apple symbol on the box??} then responding that its a new version and its not been updated etc etc. When I asked about refunding the purchase cost if all he could advise was the free version, he said take it back to the retailer you bought it from - who not surprisingly does not take back open box software where the license has probably been used!!
So far this is the worst software purchase experience I have ever had!!
So What's the deal? Do you have an apple product or not - is AVG Ultimatewith the symbol not supposed to be purchased by apple owners? How can this product be made to work on an apple - or is it the same as the free product [as he suggested to me it was] in which case there are two questions I have -
one why did I pay for it? and
two why recommend I use something that is not working? - which is why I was reaching out to support in the first place!
Any advice would be gratefully received.

AVG products are compatible with the operating systems like Windows, Mac, iOS and Android devices.
Hence, these information will be available for every AVG products that you see on our https://www.avg.com/homepage#pc website.
Earlier we had "Zen" platform available for unlimited devices products through which users will be able to add and manage other devices from admin PC.
Hence, Mac was included in Ultimate package.
We discontinued "Zen" and from then Mac wasn't included in Ultimate package as we provide only the free version of Antivirus and Cleaner for Mac.
The paid version available for iOS devices is "AVG Secure VPN".
Since each retailer has their own refund policies, they should have denied your refund request.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to help you with the refund on this matter.
We can help you in getting AVG Antivirus free installed for Mac.
