When I try to download something from a site that is deemed safe by AVG Secure Search, eg., cnet.com, AVG always comes up with a threat detection message (e.g., Found MalSign.Generic.AB7), so I end up aborting the download. What is really safe? I find myself handcuffed, as I cannot use my computer efficiently. Help!

Hi V Lee,
The AVG Secure Search is checking page whether it's safe or not - not the files available through that site. That's where the AVG WebShield or Resident Shield takes over and say whether download file is safe or not.
As Alan already said - it will be most probably false positive detection because CNET is trusted source of the information and programs.
Thanks,
Jan
