Why has avg disappeared from my computer?

Hello Peter. I profusely apologize for the inconvenience caused. I really appreciate the detailed explanation of your issue. I've sent you an email containing the instructions to get connected to our remote technical team where they will take over your system and help you on that. Please make use of it. Thank you.

I may have spoken too quickly.  Rebooting just now, I did find AVG to auto load.  Just that it didn't when the remote tech was overseeing the reboot.

When I booted this morning avg was there.  Soon background stuff was using all of my CPU.  Then no avg.  Rebooted.  Got following three messages in succession.

"avgui.exe.  unable to locate component avgntopensix.dll"

"User 'system' has previously initiated an install for product 'AVG 2015'.  That user will need to run that install again before they can use that product.  Your current install will now continue."

"An installation for AVG 2015 is currently suspended.  You must undo the changes made by that installation to continue.  Do you want to undo those changes?"

I chose Yes, the reboot proceeded, but in the end I still have no protection.  I'm surfing without a net.  What do I do to recover?

OS = XP

Thank you.  Took over 2 hours of remote assistance before the problem was fixed.  And it still isn't fully fixed, imo.  AVG no longer auto loads on boot-up.  I have to click the desktop icon.  Apparently this is the result of the recent update.  I'd say this is a bit of a downgrade.
