David, Do you have access to another computer? If so, Have a look @ this link (https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b0000000D5MjAAK). The 'not sure about 32 or 64 bit' link doesn't work now (https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b00000004fRPAAY) but I'm sure you'll now that system info…

I am having problems with this computer and can not get on the Internet, but also can not run AVG because it says it does not recognize my licesne number. I can not reinstall AVG because the new installs require getting on the Internet. Is there a dummy number that will work for AVG? Even for a day or two?

32 bit for the computer in question. I put the recommended file on a flash drive (done it three times now), copied it to the computer not on the Internet and the Install of AVG for Windows was going OK until I got this message:
"A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MFAData\pack\COREx.cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt."
And then it quits installing. Oh, yes, I had to delete the AVG that was there so that I could put the new version on, but since have found out that there is a license number that probably would have worked 4UNEF-PB63F-X9ZAS-AO3TB-HI9JO (I have since found it on three of my friend's XP computers - yes, same number). Now I have wasted about six hours when a few minutes with the license number probably would have worked. Geeeeeze.
I should add that the problem was probably just a corrupted license number. Now I do not know what to do.
