Why is AVG using 20+% of my CPU constantly?

For the past few days my laptop fan has seemingly been on overdrive even when I'm not using 'heavy' programs (usually a browser with 5 - 6 tabs). I checked my task manager and every time, AVG is using the highest percentage of CPU

Windows 10 Home v22H2
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with Radeon Graphics 3.00 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.37 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

AVG subscription: Paid
