Hi All,
My first post, hopefully someone can help me with this.
I am running Windows 10, AVG Internet Security (Paid Version). I have Visual Studio 2017 installed on my machine and am running Visual Studio Emulator for Android. This means that Hyper-V is enabled and used to run the emulators.
In AVG Firewall I have defined all networks on my machine and have enabled the option "Allow any traffic from/to virtual machines supported by firewall". Unfortunately after a short time my machine cannot access the internet and I have to reboot my machine. The time taken for internet access to be blocked may vary from 1 to 10 minutes. I do not have this problem if I uninstall AVG Internet Security and use the Windows Firewall and Defender. When I reinstall AVG the problem returns.
I have completely reinstalled Windows, Visual Studio and Visual Studio Emulator for Android. I experience the exact same behaviour. The fact that the problem disappears when AVG is removed and returns when AVG is reinstalled highlights to me that the problem is with AVG.
When I run the "Fix Connection" option in Internet Explorer it always finds a fault with the virtual Ethernet connection to my network card (I changed it last week thinking that was the problem... it wasn't). The connection is being disabled by AVG I believe. Nothing is able to access the internet.
Has anyone got any idea what the problem might be? I've used AVG for years and never come across anything like this. I removed AVG tonight and am running a trial version of ESET Internet Security. Everything is working fine with that product.
