Windows 10 incompatability issue

Thnaks Sarath. Well, that was a morning I'll never get back!!
I went through the disabling procedure several times to be sure. It seems that the email shield was preventing mail acess/egress…but then again so was the hacker attack enhanced firewall, also had an issue with anti spam feature not working. All corrected on reboot. Rinse and repeat about 4 times, anti spam now working, but now getting cert error message for mail server! Then access denied to internet via M/soft Edge again. Rinse and repeat, in desparation deleted mail account and reinstalled, clicked heels together 3 times and bingo! seems to be working. Internet access ok, mail received but slowly compared to shield on.
Is it possible I originally configured my email account as IMAP 4 instead of POP3?
Could this have had the effects described?

Thank you for your detailed explanation, Graham.

Do you send/receive email from an mail application or browser?

To narrow down the issue, let's disable each component in AVG Internet Security and identify it.

Please click the article below and refer disable individual components.

Keep us posted!

Just an update - even with AVG disabled, problem with email persists. I conclude that the problem is solely a bug in Windows 10 mail app. I entered feedback to M/soft and noted that several other users have similar problems with the Mail app.

Hi Dinesh. Thanks for your reply and apologies for the lack of clarity. I recently bought a new laptop and installed AVG internet (as an existing customer, resubscribed). The laptop automatically updated to the latest version of Windows 10. Initially, on start up, AVG would not allow access to the Net over Microsoft Edge, though other browsers seemed ok. It would not even 'trust' the AVG website, and would not allow me to send or receive emails.

I uninstalled then reinstalled AVG. Now Net access is fine but still cannot send or receive emails unless I put AVG into passive mode, or take the AVG off completely. I checked my mail server and there is no problem there.
Kind regards
Graham
