We're glad to look into this & help you.

It seems that there are few traces of AVG on your computer. We need to remove those files & then try updating.
To do so, we suggest you to run AVG removal tools by following the steps in the article below.

Note : Please run both the AVG Clear & Remover tool.

Please search for AVGUI.exe or AVASTUI.exe and delete it manually.

Then, install all your AVG on your PC. Then try updating Windows and check if you are able to complete.

I tried to update windows 10, but I get "what needs your attention" popup saying I need the newer version of AVG. I have software version 19.8.3018 which looks like the current version.

Hi sarath, I did as you asked, tried windows update again still same problem. I get a Windows popup saying " This app can't run because it causes security or performance issues on Windows. A new version is available. Please go to aks.ms/avg18_3win10 to learn more".
