No good, I'm afraid as apparantely i'm using AVG Free 2016 or earlier
This appears to have solved the problem

Keep getting a message that says 'an unknown issue has prevented internet security from installing' and the error code above, 0xa001f90d
Also get another message that says ' update failed - the installation is corrupted'
Can someone help please?

This is a free version of AVG.
Everything was fine until an upgrade that happened at the end of last month I believe

We regret to hear about the inconvenience caused. Please use the AVG Clear and AVG Remover to remove AVG traces and start a fresh installation.
Use the link https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe to run AVG Clear tool.
Open the AVG Clear tool, click Yes in the User Account control dialog
Click No in the Windows safe mode dialog
Select the installed version of AVG, click Uninstall, then click Restart computer
Please run the AVG Remover tool by using the below instructions
Download the AVG remover tool please click on this link:
http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
Run the downloaded tool
Your computer will be restarted automatically
After reboot, Open C drive and delete "AVG Remover", also delete "AVG" folder in "Program files (x86)" in C Drive

Thank you for providing the screenshot. It seems that you have the old version of AVG installed in your computer,. Please run the AVG Remover tool by using the below instructions
