Hello AVG: We installed AVG Internet Security today, and with default settings, the Enhanced Firewall prevented other PCs in our LAN to access each other. We disabled Enhanced Firewall in AVG, but not that setting appears to be also disabling the Windows Firewall. I can enable Windows Firewall, then RESTART, and after AVG has initialized, Windows Firewall has been disabled again. Is there any way to simplify LAN access to all the PCs on the LAN in our office? I would prefer to keep Windows Firewall enabled after disabling AVG's Enhanced Firewall. Alternatively, I could attempt trial-and-error by Uninstalling Enhanced Firewall in AVG, but I would prefer to avoid trial-and-error (too time-consuming). Thanks for any and all help you can send my way. /s/ Paul
Hi Paul,
We'll help you to sort this out. By default if you disable AVG Firewall and restart the PC, it will again turn ON automatically and it is not possible to change that option. If you wish to access all your PC connected in LAN using AVG Firewall, please follow the instructions given below:
Open AVG Internet Security -> Menu at the top right -> Settings -> Components -> firewall -> customize -> system rules -> make sure all the task has been enabled.
Again, Firewall -> Customize -> Network Profiles -> change all the profiles from public to Private.
After make the above changes try to access your PCs and see if that resolves the issue.
If you wish to disable AVG Firewall permanently we suggest you to uninstall the firewall component from AVG Internet Security application as that is the only way to do so.
Open AVG Internet Security > Menu >Settings > Components > Enhanced Firewall > Click on the drop down > Uninstall Firewall

Paul,
I really appreciate your effort in providing us with the valuable information. I request you to open AVG Internet Security > Menu > about > Submit a feedback, it will reach to our development team.
Please be informed that, if you have installed AVG Internet Security (Enhanced Firewall disabled/enabled) then the Windows firewall will be disabled by default.
You can uninstall the AVG Firewall component (open AVG Internet Security > Menu > settings > components) alone and the windows firewall will be enabled automatically.
Regards,
Alok.

Thank you, Vishnu:
Greetings AVG:
Over the past weekend, we installed AVG Internet Security for Windows (Unlimited Devices | 2 Years).
With default settings, our LAN of XP PCs would not access network drives. So, we disabled Enhanced Firewall, and then the LAN started working again.
However, we have confirmed that this disabled Enhanced Firewall setting also disabled the Windows Firewall.
This appears to be a bug.
If the AVG Enhanced Firewall is DISABLED,
this mode should NOT make any changes
to the Windows Firewall. Having a working
firewall is VERY IMPORTANT, and not having
any firewall defeats one of the main objectives
of "Internet Security".
My workaround is to wait for AVG to initialize
at STARTUP, and then to enable the Windows Firewall
manually.
Perhaps in a future upgrade you could add a
setting which leave the Windows Firewall intact
if the AVG Enhanced Firewall is disabled.
Thanks!
p.s. Otherwise, this software looks to be
very sophisticated and I would like to continue
using it, and becoming much more familiar
with all if its many features.
I will experiment with Uninstall Firewall in AVG,
and let you know whether this works, or not.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
/s/ Paul
