Had Windows firewall, AVG free 2014 for computer, e-mail and browsing. AVG was doing daily update OK then it said something else recommended (I can't remember exactly what), not OK so tried to uninstall AVG 2014. AVG message suggested keep browser so AVG Free Edition Link Scanner on, Message keeps appearing VProtect Application problem, tell Microsoft. I'm not sure if AVG has been uninstalled as Control Panel shows AVG 2014 126MB. I didn't try to delete AVG Tune Up.
Please tell me how to get this sorted, computer dummy so make it simple! Either to get AVG free 2014 reinstated or preferably get AVG 2015 Free Version, keeping Windows firewall. Thanks for your help,
Hi Avinash, Yes, you said it would be fixed in no time so I contacted the remote technician -, I believe his name was Padmathaihi. He tried to get AVG free 2015 to run and it stopped (as mine had) with the message "avg_free_X86_all_2015_ltst_222(1)exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". Padmathaihi checked for a virus, said there was none and that Windows was blocking the installation. He told me to contact Windows technical, which I did. They said AVG free 2015 was not compatible with Windows XP. The XP 32 bit version is the one I'm trying to install, Did the remote technician not make a note of anything he did? When I tried to save it, I instructed Windows firewall to allow the download, so it got saved but then when it tries to run it cannot. . …

Hello Aravind, my problem has been ongoing for weeks, you will see this if you look at the various questions and answers on this thread. On 2/07/15 Niyaz in senior tech did some remote checks on my computer to try to find why AVG free 2015 wouldn't download to my computer. Niyaz said information from that was being referred back to technical (I believe), then I got Harsha's message which didn't make much sense to me. Please could you refer back to Niyaz so I can understand what the problem is with my computer. If it can't take AVG free 2015 for some reason, I would like to get AVG free 2014 installed again. Is it still available to download and if so where. Thanks
I tried this but it still stops on the same thing avg_free_x86_all_2015_ltst_222[1].exe has a problem and needs to close. Is there a log check at your end to show where it is going wrong? If it is a problem with Windows am I able to go to their site for help without risking my computer (whilst in safe mode). Pretty much at my wits end, how can we get this to load or get back the 2014 version which I had before. Thanks.

Harsha has e-mailed me (my) "computer does not meet the minimum requirement to install the AVG Anti Virus Free. Kindly have this check with your local system technician and connect us back for the installation of AVG in your computer". I've no idea who the local system tech is supposed to be but your tech team have made various attempts to load 2015 so presumably they know the computer spec. Am I able to get AVG free 2014 again please?
Hello Alan, Trying to download the free version 2014 (avg free stb en 2014 4813 free.exe,) but I presume this is an adjusted 2015 version, not exactly as I had before as Windows XP computer doesn't meet minimum system requirements. (Am I installing the correct version?) AVG then tries to install basics but Windows repeatedly gives me warning message saying it may not be fully tested to run with XP and could stop Windows running properly. I have stopped installation for now to check whether I've accessed the right programme and whether it is OK to proceed with the installation. Await your comments please.
Hello Alan and Avinash. I tried running the download from both suggested webpages and neither works, It starts to run to a temp folder and seems to fully download, Next a second download screen comes up which I try to run, a message comes up "AVG has encountered a problem and needs to close" just after that. If all else fails, I had the 2014 version for ages so should be trying to download that instead?
