Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error

Hacker attacks/Ransomware protection/Open and add Word/Excel to ALLOWED.

I guess the problem is the combination of silent mode and file protection and the illogical settings of AVG. I had the same issue.
Also - I have a 1 yr subsription - the way you can customize AVG not logical:
- Nope: You have Menu/Settings/Components
- Yes: You have Hacker attacks/Ransomware protection/Open <- here you have to add excel to the Allowed apps and.. you're done!

I have a very old office pack at home. So the file was:
"c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\EXCEL.EXE"
"c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE"
User-added image
You can see Excel opening in "read only mode" (says at the middle top) if you have the problem.
Wal,

Sorry for the trouble, could you share the screenshot https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-create-a-screenshot&supportType=home  of that error message you received?

Please open AVG Internet Security -> Hackers & Attacks -> Ransomware -> Blocked/ Allowed apps ->Blocked apps ->  remove the listed file.

Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error.
Turn off AVG antivirus & Word saves.as normal.

Yes, the files you have added to allow list is correct.

Were you able to edit the files once you added them to allow list?

I'd like to ask few questions before proceeding:

1. Where are you trying to save the file? Is it on the local drive or network drive?
2. Does this issue only occurs with Word?
Right click on Word and select Run as Administrator and check if you can save the files.
If issue persists, s tart Word in safe mode following steps mentioned below and then try to save the document and verify the result:
* Hold Windows key + R.
* Copy and paste, or type the following command in the Open box, and then press Enter
