Word program has changed all my files to Read Only

Cheryl, if there are any possibilities for the particular file to get the ransomware content, then the component will block It.
If they are trusted, it can be moved from blocked list and added to the allowed apps.
Regarding the prompt for entering license number, we request you to provide the screenshot of the window which asks for the license to be entered.
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Hi Cheryl,

Let's work together to fix this.
Please check whether Word application is listed in the blocked apps of AVG. Open AVG Internet Security > Hackers Attacks > Open Ransomware, make sure you enabled Smart mode. Then, select 'Allowed/Blocked' app and check if this application is blocked. If yes, please remove it and add the same in Allowed apps.
Keep us informed about the status.

Yes I did unblock it.  Now what do I need to do.   (Also, another question is why does my AVG require me to re-enter my liscense number every time I log into my PC.  Sometimes it even asks for it while I am working on my PC after I had already entered it when I logged in.)   I am NOT impressed with AVG any more.

I have a problem with my PC in that it has changed all my Word program files to Read Only files.  I only use my PC for personal use and one of the suggestions that I received from Google was that my internet security had changed my word  program to do this.  I can't even start a new word file- everything comes up "Read Only'.  My enable editing bar has disappeared, under the Properties section of each file the Read Only button is not ticked. So what has happened to my PC.  I keep getting error messages from AVG that my computer is changing a file. Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Is this a gliche with AVG?

I have followed the instructions and I can not get the picture to insert.  I have it saved but the picture will not upload to your site.

Yes it was under my blocked apps.  But I did not get it moved to the Allow section.  Why did the AVG program do this???

It will be automatically moved to the blocked apps list, if it is in the 'Strict mode' to ensure protection for your files.

So, we have to change it to the 'Smart mode' to remove the application from the blocked list.

Have you unblocked the application?

Okay, Cheryl.

I have sent you an email to follow. You can attach the screenshot in that email to assist you further.

And my AVG is in Smart Mode.
