Hi AVG community!
My first post, as I haven't had any issues with AVG AntiVirus (Free) for Mac before, until now.
I am trying to install Flow Cytometry software FlowJo from it's developer's website.
https://www.flowjo.com
My issue is that every time I open the downloaded .dmg image to install, I get a virus warning immediately from AVG AnitVirus saying it has blocked XCSSET virus.
Puzzled, I have contacted the FlowJo company's technical support and got a direct callback saying that the software is already tested for virus using a different software and considered 'safe'. And that AVG AntiVirus is acting on it from 'suspicion', and needs to 'whitelist' the FlowJo software. They said that they will reach out to AVG as well, and notify me for any updates, but I have not heard back yet.
My question would be, in order to install FlowJo to use safely, how can I have AVG AntiVirus NOT to act on it? Is there a way to ask AVG to actually check the FlowJo software that it is safe to use, and does not contain the new treat XCSSET Mac virus?
Any useful information would be appreciated to move forward and safely.
Thanks in advance!
Hi!
I have just recieved a notice from the FlowJo sopport that they just got the message that AVG finally have whiltelisted FlowJo for Mac. Indeed, I was finally able to install FlowJo without any AVG false-blocking. Issue solved for FlowJo.
However, I am not sure if the issue of AVG unable to obtain large files to check and confirm safety has been resolved, and still remains as issue when whitelisting software to install.
In any case, thanks!
Still getting
"413 Request Entity Too Large" error trying to submit False Positive report.
Tried with Mac Safari, Mac Firefox, and Mac Google Chrome. ALL got the same error.
Your False Positive report website, NOT working, I suppose.
Attached is the screenshot.
Using
AVG AntiVirus for Mac
Version: 19.6 (4ba005b05000e)

So far, following the emailed instuctions and even with assistance from remote chat app and attempts to send file via email, all has failed to have the file forwarded to AVG. I have it on my Dropbox, and download link has been shared with AVG. Hopefully, there is a safe way to have AVG obtain the file and have them examine it's safety, and let me install and use the software.
Update pending…
Issue is unresolved. I too am getting a malware flag from this file, within FlowjoJavaApplicationStub, with the new version

Hi Junji,
We're glad to help you with this.
From your description, it possible seems to be a false alarm from AVG.
However, to check this, we'd suggest you to submit a false positive request by visiting this link & upload the .dmg file.
Once we receive the request, a group of analysts will review the file & whitelist it, if it is found safe or goes through clean notes of AVG.
Thank you for your understanding in advance!
Appreciate your efforts, Junji.

I cannot upload this file to you in your form, as my virus software prevents it
